INDEPENDENCE DAY SHOOTING COMPETITION AMONG DIPLOMATIC CORPS HELD AT SSU HEADQUARTERS
In celebration of Independence Day, the Special Security Unit (SSU) hosted a Shooting Competition among the diplomatic corps at the SSU Headquarters. The event brought together diplomats from the United States of America (USA), Russia, Britain, Turkiye, France, Malaysia, Iran, China, South Korea, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Afghanistan to showcase their shooting skills.
The competition featured categories of individual male and female pistol Shooting. In the team category, the France Consulate secured 1st position, followed by the Russia Consulate in 2nd position, and the U.S Consulate in 3rd position. In the individual male category, Alexander Pefrove from the Russia Consulate took 1st position, Rodolphe Dassonville from the France Consulate secured 2nd position, and Prysznic Aleksey from the Russia Consulate achieved 3rd position. Whereas, in the individual female category, Kelly McFarlane from the U.S Consulate took 1st position, Mrs. Nor Azua Binti Sulaili from the Malaysian Consulate secured 2nd position, and Ms. Kauser Ahmed from the Turkiye Consulate achieved 3rd position.
Consul generals of all the participating countries competed in a separate category.
Addl. IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho also graced the event with his presence and appreciated the administration for organising the shooting competition. DIG Sindh Police Security & Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed was also the guest of the event. He commended the participants for their exceptional skills and presented trophies and medals to the winners and runners-up.
Dr. Maqsood Ahmed highlighted the competition’s objectives, stating, “The aim of organizing this shooting competition is to foster mutual cooperation among institutions and diplomats. This event, as part of our ongoing efforts, helps in promoting a positive image of the country globally. We are grateful to all the participants for their enthusiastic involvement.”
On this occasion, the participants expressing their views and said that it is worth appreaciating that SSU holds shooting competition every year which is helpful to foster coordination among consulate staff and institutions.
The celebration concluded with Dr. Maqsood Ahmed, along with guests and participants, cutting the Independence Day cake, marking a festive end to a successful event.
