DIG Security and Emergency Services Division Dr. Maqsood Ahmed formally introduced the “Security Training Handbook (Volume-I)”, a comprehensive operational and instructional resource developed by the Special Security Unit (SSU) for police tactical formations, emergency responders, cyber specialists, and allied security professionals across Pakistan.

 

The handbook was first presented to the honourable President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, marking a significant step towards the modernization and standardization of security and law enforcement training in Pakistan.

 

Addressing the occasion, Dr. Maqsood Ahmed stated that the handbook was developed to bridge the long-standing gap in specialized security training aligned with international standards and emerging security challenges. He emphasized that modern policing requires a proactive, technical, and adaptive approach to effectively respond to evolving threats including terrorism, cybercrime, emergency situations, VVIP protection, and critical incident management.

 

The handbook comprehensively covers tactical radio communication, tactical motor driving, deployment of weapons systems, IED mitigation, non-lethal weapons, rings of security, protection of vital infrastructure, emergency response, disaster management, Protective Security Details (PSD), motorcade operations, VVIP bodyguard protocols, anti-terrorism operations, cyber security, digital radicalization, and future security technologies.

 

The publication incorporates practical field experience, SOPs, local case studies, and internationally recognized security doctrines adapted to Pakistan’s operational environment. The handbook has been prepared through extensive research and professional collaboration involving senior police officers, military veterans, bureaucrats, experienced instructors, and security experts.

 

Copies of the handbook will be shared with police training institutions and specialized security academies across Pakistan for institutional review, guidance, and adoption.
